Todos Los Desastres
Artist news
Press release
As a Drawing Factory II artist, Diego Movilla inscribes his practice in a constant dialogue between past and present, bringing out new visual and narrative tensions.
For his exhibition at l’Annexe, Diego Movilla draws on the history of art to create images of disaster and extreme situations. Scenes of shipwrecks, natural disasters, battles, struggles and popular uprisings will be put to the test of their own representational medium. The gestures of sliding, erasing and covering, characteristic of his work, will intervene on these images, as much in their materiality as in their meaning.
Diego Movilla will present aquatints using pigment powder, a technique he developed himself, and will offer a rereading of Francisco de Goya’s emblematic Los Desastres de la Guerra series. Dos y Tres de Mayo will resonate with other significant dates in history, leaving open the question of what our present day will leave behind.
The exhibition opening will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 6:30 pm, at the exhibition address.
