Previous editions of the Drawing Factory bear witness to Drawing Lab's commitment to contemporary creation and to supporting artists.
Initiated by the Drawing Society, the Drawing Factory has imagined temporary residency spaces dedicated to drawing in all its forms. In its first two editions, it enabled French and international artists to benefit from workshops, research time and encounters, in premises transformed to become spaces for work, experimentation and sharing.
In 2021, Drawing Factory I took up residence in a former Parisian hotel, converted into artists' studios. This first edition affirmed Drawing Lab's determination to make drawing an open field, capable of going beyond the sheet of paper to invest space, volume, installation, image or performance.
Drawing Factory II continued in the heart of Paris, at 61 rue de Richelieu. For six months, 33 artists occupied the same building, bringing together studios, shared spaces and meeting places. This second edition continued the spirit of the residency: to create a collective setting conducive to production, exchange and transmission.
Since then, the building has continued its transformation to become the Miss Fuller Hotel, a 4-star hotel in the Drawing Hotels Collection. Echoing the history of the site and that first residence, several artists who participated in Drawing Factory I were invited to create permanent installations within the hotel. Raphaëlle Peria has taken over the restaurant, while Camille Chastang, Fabrice Cazenave, Chloé Dugit-Gros, and Camille Fischer have each brought their unique artistic worlds to the guest floors, extending the spirit of the residency into the hotel’s living spaces.
