Gaëlle Chotard

Portrait Gaëlle Chotard

Gaëlle Chotard

Born January 18, 1973 in Montpellier, France

Lives and works in Nogent sur Marne

Galerie Papillon

The exhibition at Drawing Lab enabled me to deepen, explore and broaden my drawing practice, which over time has become central to my research. Being generously welcomed in this sumptuous space in the center of Paris, and having it available to me like a large blank page, was a unique moment. The exchanges and singular glances were intense. I’ll always remember the many exceptional moments I had with the Drawing Lab team, the Drawing Hotel, curator Valentine Meyer and many others.

A 1998 graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, Gaëlle Chotard has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions, most recently at the Musée de Vence, the Carré d’art in Nîmes,
Domaine Pommery in Reims, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille, and the Villa Bernasconi, Grand Lancy/Geneva. She has produced site-specific works for the Château de Rambouillet and for the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris as part of the Dans la ligne de mire exhibition. In 2016, she invested the Espal in Le Mans, in 2017 the Villa Tamaris with Interstices and the Chapelle du Généteil with Percée (Le Carré, Scène nationale-Centre d’art contemporain in Château-Gontier), which published Gaëlle Chotard, Dessins 2007- 2017 on a proposal by Bertrand Godot. In 2018, she was selected in duo with curator Valentine Meyer to make a proposal to Drawing Lab, and Galerie Papillon presents La part de l’ombre, her 4th solo exhibition at the gallery. Gaëlle Chotard’s works can be found in the collections of FRAC Haute-Normandie and FNAC, among others.
