Lives and works between Eymet and Paris
The “Tout un film” exhibition gave my work great visibility. Meeting the other artists was also enriching. The cross-interview with Antoine Marquis generated a great deal of mutual interest. This rich exchange stimulated us to think about a continuation of this exchange in editorial and drawing form or otherwise.
For Camille Lavaud, drawing is a choice of rigor and freshness, measure and overflow. While it serves as a medium for ideas, expressive preoccupation and imaginative effervescence, it nevertheless retains a margin of play that keeps its evocative capacity particularly vivid. It combines a variety of sources, but also welcomes antagonistic temptations. Its energy borrows from comics, cinema, art history and biographical resonances, and carves the furrow of a never-fixed, always jostled realism that responds to the calls of fantasy, poetry and restitution based on superimpositions of registers and tonal variations.
