New Media Meetings
The exhibition Ito Meikyū / Fil d’errance (Ito Meikyū / Wandering Thread) follows a continuous, impalpable thread between Boris Labbé’s works, which, like a labyrinthine path in his mind, takes the viewer on a loop, from drawing to virtual reality… and from virtual reality to drawing. Words become lists, drawings become collections, their placement in space becomes construction then deconstruction, and their multiplication becomes movement and repetition.
Around the question of New Media.iums proposed by the Drawing Lab, in this exhibition we explore the use of different media: from drawing, silkscreening and television animation, to virtual reality with a headset, and the reinterpretation of the virtual in a wooden sculpture. The challenge is to harmonize each representation: there is no hierarchy, but rather a progression between digital and non-digital works, which respond to and complement each other. Echoing the exhibition and the challenges of presenting new digital media, we are offering 3 days of round-table discussions with artists and professionals from the field.
A number of topics will be addressed, allowing complementary reflections to intersect on different axes: from production to audiovisual and artistic distribution, from curating to conservation of digital works, or from artistic training to the process of creating a work.
