Nikolaus Gansterer is an artist and researcher deeply interested in the links between drawing, thought and action. His practice is based on a transmedia approach, underpinned by conceptual discourse in the context of performative visualization.
He studied transmedia art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and completed his studies at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. He is co-founder of the Institute for Transacoustic Research. Since 2007, he has been teaching at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Gansterer’s fascination with the complex character of diagrams led him to write a book entitled Drawing a Hypothesis on the ontology of visualization forms and its use in contemporary art and science. From 2014 to 2018, Gansterer directed the artistic research project
