Maxime Verdier was born in Dieppe in 1991. He sees everyday life as a “portal to the supernatural”, a “place where the impossible becomes possible” – terms that could just as well describe his artistic practice. Drawing on a reservoir of fantastical stories, anecdotes and memories, he seeks to reveal the strange, repressed images of our unconscious. Through painting, drawing, sculpture and installation, he creates a chimerical, poetic world populated by dreamlike creatures, banal objects that come to life and nightmarish monsters.
