Born in 1985 in Rennes, France.
Lives and works in Strasbourg.
As well as providing much-appreciated visibility and a particularly enjoyable opportunity to meet new people, Drawing Now has underlined the importance of drawing in my work: drawing on matter is essential to my artistic approach.
Léa Barbazanges’ work has been exhibited in various institutions (Muséum d’Histoire naturelle, Paris, Musée des arts Décoratifs, Paris …), foundations (EDF, Fernet Branca …), art centers (les Tanneries, Le 19, Domaine Pommery …), in France and abroad (Germany, Switzerland, Russia, South Korea). Several galleries have exhibited her work, including Xippas and Papillon. A 2009 graduate of HEAR, Strasbourg, she spent a year at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Her work has been acquired by American, Swiss and French collectors, as well as by institutions such as artothèques, FRAC Alsace, MAMCS, Musée d’art Moderne et contemporain de Strasbourg and Domaine Pommery. In 2014, she won the AWARE Foundation’s contemporary art prize for a woman artist, in 2017, the French Institute’s “Hors les Murs” program, and in 2018, “Art et Science” Paris-Saclay.
