Born November 25, 1978 in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria
Lives and works between Paris (France) and Vienna (Austria)
Projektraum Viktor Bucher / re.riddle
In March 2018, I took part in the Drawing Now art fair. I was awarded the Drawing Now Art Award 2018 for my drawing series “dust to dust”. This series of drawings, I dedicate to balls of dust and fluffy stains, which have been gradually collected in my studio, accurately depicting them with colored pencils on paper. I have received requests from the press, art lovers, art institutions and collectors to see my work. My solo exhibition at Drawing Lab gave me the opportunity to show the series as an installation, and to use other media to illustrate the complexity of my work.
Michail Michailov studied at the Faculty of Visual Arts in Veliko Tarnovo (1999-2004) and Art History at the University of Vienna (2002-2007). From 2006 to 2009, he worked in cooperation with the Gelitin group of artists. In 2007, he took part in the Sommerakademie “Situation and Spectacle” at the Paul Klee Center in Bern (lecturer: Cerith Wyn Evans). In addition to several residencies and awards, he has won the Drawing Now Paris Art Award 2018, the Austrian State Scholarship for the Visual Arts 2017 and the Austrian Graphic Award/ lower austria 2015.
