RESOLUTIO

This new exhibition at Charroux Abbey, RESOLUTIO by François Réautakes you on a journey through time and space.

The title of the exhibition is borrowed from the alchemical word RESOLUTIO, which refers to the fundamental mystery of nature, namely the dissolution of elements in death for their subsequent reconstitution in another order for a new life.

With RESOLUTIO, François Réau tells you a “story” in dialogue with the monument through his plastic work, with the creation of original works and an installation of plants and neon lights.

He takes the landscape and its transformation processes as a source of reflection. His work is also determined by his questioning of the links between man and nature.

In this project, the artist invites you to explore the movements of time and space in relation to the period in which Charroux Abbey was founded, namely 783, and in which various elements or characters connected with the Abbey and its Benedictine order will come together:

– The Octagonal Tower and its use of light,
– Nature and the cycle of the seasons through its cloister,
– The music and writing of Paul Diacre, 8th-century Benedictine monk, historian and poet.

This exhibition is the result of the “Cultural Summer 2023” call for projects launched by the Ministry of Culture.
