As part of the exhibition FREE JAZZ, Henri Matisse et…, Drawing Lab invites you to enjoy an original musical reading of the texts that make up Jazz, a seminal work from the end of the artist’s life.

Alongside his famous gouache cut-outs, Matisse wrote a series of handwritten texts for Jazz that are as intimate as they are poetic. More than mere commentaries, these writings are for him a space for free and spontaneous reflection, a literary “improvisation” in resonance with the visual rhythm of the plates.

This evening will give voice to these sensitive and profound fragments, in a sound setting.
