Artist Louise Aleksiejew explores the moments when fiction takes precedence over historical truth. Starting from the idea that the traces we have to write history are fragmentary and often subjective, she points out that these gaps give rise to hypotheses, which feed on collective contexts and perceptions. These conjectures, sometimes far-fetched, are transformed into narratives anchored in collective memory, blurring the line between proven fact and legend.

Aleksiejew’s protean work, which is always fueled by drawing, invites us to go beyond the dichotomy between the true and the false. His artistic universe is both rich and contradictory, with stories that question the way we perceive the world and, beyond that, our own place in the universe. A veritable voyage where imagination and reality intermingle to redefine our relationship with time, history and memory.
