DRAWING PERFORMANCE: Jimmy Robert with Malick Cissé

Wednesday, January 21, 2026, 7pm: Draw the Line is a performance based on withdrawal, absence and the tension between gesture and trace. For twenty minutes, a roll of paper serves both as a choreographic constraint and as a surface for inscription. At the end of the performance, the visible marks are no longer those of the artist’s body, but those left by visitors, underlining the disappearance and displacement inherent in any performative action.

In dialogue with Carolee Schneemann’s Up To and Including Her Limits, Jimmy Robert transforms a historical reference into conceptual material, questioning what remains when the performance itself fades away.

Biography of Malick Cissé :

It was while studying languages at university that Malick Cissé was introduced to dance. After a spell at the Conservatoire régional de Rennes, in 2021 he joined the Ecole supérieure du Cndc in Angers. His movement is a convergence of hip-hop heritage, physical theater and various contemporary techniques. Alongside his work as a performer in creations by Cherish Menzo, Oona Doherty and Gisèle Vienne, he co-created Shelter in partnership with two other artists. This collective is a platform through which he develops projects relating to free dance, performance and mediation.
