Christian Lhopital creates the visual tumult of Brouhaha at URDLA

From September 20 to December 20, 2025, URDLA (Villeurbanne) is devoting a new exhibition to Christian Lhopital, a major figure in contemporary drawing, with Brouhaha.

Although not intended as a retrospective, the exhibition reflects theinner turmoil and anxieties that run through the artist’s practice. It continues a historic collaboration with URDLA that began in 1983, when Lhopital produced his first lithographs in the institution’s studios.

Brouhaha brings together recent works – drawings, sculptures and prints – produced over the last five years. Among them are two xylogravures from 2021 and a series of tailles-douces begun in 2022, revealing the constancy of a plastic research in which images, often conceived in series, dialogue from one medium to another.

The public is invited to discover this exhibition from September 20 to December 2025, with an opening on Saturday, September 20, from 2pm to 6pm.
