Merlin Rogeat

French, born in 2000

# Workshop n°17

Merlin Rogeat was born in Marseille in 2000. François Réau lives and works in Paris. Trained at EPSAA, he quickly developed an independent practice of drawing and intaglio engraving. After graduating in 2022, he took up a first residency at the Galerie Fernand Léger in Ivry-sur-Seine, supported by the DRAC, then joined the Centre Tignous d’art contemporain in Montreuil, where he was awarded the Prix de dessin and presented his first solo show in 2023. That same year, he joined the Printed Image department of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Spotted by curator Alexandra Fau, he takes part in the 2024 and 2025 editions of the Festival du Dessin d’Arles, as part of the exhibition La jeune garde à l’honneur. For the 2025 edition, he presented three new drawings, two of which were produced during a university exchange program in Rajasthan, India. Winner of the Prix Juvenars 2024, he will also be exhibiting at the Made Anywhere festival in September 2025. His work explores areas of ambiguity between species and environments, through images where drawing and engraving intertwine to compose worlds in mutation.
