Michail Michailov, I am everywhere, 2019, exhibition view
In the exhibition I am everywhere I am showing drawings of my series dust to dust in different forms. There are a lot of aspects, who can be seen by looking at the colored pencil drawings. My main issue in my art is the theme of existence. By questioning what makes sence in life I am influenced of the knowledge of how much and how less human science knows at the same time and how relative human views can be seen – just like the slightly different view of real dust and hand colored pencil dust.
With this background I am creating an interacting space, showing an artificial microcosmos of dust, stains and grease spots, which original accumulated in my studio. This high level of drawing effort to reproduce something what is actually totaly useless, playfully raises questions of meaning and value of man and art. The unconscious gets into awareness. Things unlikely to be seen become visible.

The artist Michail Michailov uses in his works different artistic media such as drawing, performance, video, photography. In his approach he deals in a playful manner with his own “self” or “I” in relation to his environment/surroundings/situation. Questions about the human presence/being are being asked. Success and failure, self-discovery and self-doubt, the quest for happiness, the transcendence of limits are recurrent topics. In doing so he uses his own name(s) and personality as a metaphor for the existence, the I and the pursuit of individual self-fulfillment in a globalised society. He takes on different cultural phenomena which influence human behaviour and questions a striving for perfection society.
